The S.C. Highway Patrol has formally charged a man following a deadly crash Saturday night.
Lance Cpl. Judd Jones said William Currie, 48, has been charged with felony driving under the influence with death and felony DUI with great bodily injury.
According to police, Currie’s vehicle ran a stop sign at the intersection of Reynolds Pond and Pipeline roads in Aiken when he struck another vehicle driving east on Reynolds Pond Road.
Stacia Mock, 43, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, according to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton.
Stacia Mock was riding with her husband Chris when they were struck by Currie’s vehicle, causing them to hit a tree, according to S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Brent Kelly.
Family members following the Mock’s vehicle allegedly witnessed the crash, officials said.
Currie is currently at the Aiken County Detention Center.
