Police have charged a West Seneca man with driving while intoxicated in the accident that claimed the life of West Seneca Democratic Chairman Daniel S. McParlane early Wednesday morning.
Robert J. Styn of West Seneca, no age or address given, was charged following the 12:10 a.m. accident on Indian Church Road, according to a press release issued by Capt. Edward Baker. West Seneca police, who would answer no questions for more than 15 hours after the crash, did not return phone calls seeking more information and indicated only that Styn had been arraigned and released, and that bad weather may have also been to blame.
West Seneca Supervisor Sheila Meegan confirmed early Wednesday morning the death of McParlane, 33, along with Erie County Democratic Chairman Jeremy J. Zellner and Thomas Diina, superintendent of the Jail Management Division of the Erie County Sheriff’s Office.

A West Seneca man held back tears as he learned his punishment for a drunken crash that killed a pedestrian.
James White admitted that he was drunk behind the wheel last November when he struck and killed 51-year-old Daniel Steiner when he was walking on South Park and Choate.
White expressed deep remorse Tuesday in State Supreme Court and Justice John Michalski sentenced the 53-year-old man to three months of weekends in jail, five years probation, and 300 hours of community service.

West Seneca police arrested a woman early Saturday morning after being involved in a road rage incident.
52-year-old Shawn M. Keem of West Seneca was arrested after a citizen called police to report that Keem had cut her off and struck the front of her car. The two were stopped on Seneca Street near Harlem Road.
Following an investigation, Keem was placed under arrest and charged with DWI, Aggravated DWI, and Failure to Stay in Lane.
