A 56-year-old man has been charged with driving drunk and manslaughter in the death of a female motorcycle passenger early Saturday morning.
Tracey Blevins, 31, of the 3200 block of Hurstbourne Springs Drive in Louisville, was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:40 a.m., said deputy coroner Cindy Thoene. She died from multiple blunt force injuries.
Alicia Smiley, a spokeswoman for Louisville Metro Police, said the wreck occurred near the intersection of Bardstown Road and Strathmoor Blvd.
“A motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed on Bardstown Road,” Smiley said. “At about the same time, a Jeep Cherokee was traveling down Strathmoor and failed to yield to the right of way and the motorcycle struck the Jeep.”
The driver of the Jeep, Christopher Purcell, 56, was charged with driving under the influence and manslaughter second degree, she said.
The male driver of the motorcycle was transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries, Smiley said.
Smiley said both motorcyclists were wearing helmets
