Michael Awrey, 57, from Martin was arraigned Monday on five felonies related to the crash. The most serious  – operating while under the influence causing death – is a 15-year felony. In all, he faces up to 30 years behind bars.

According to a news release from the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office, Steven Colvin Roden, 53, was driving and Kimberly Anne Roden, 49, was his passenger when their motorcycle was struck about a mile from home.

Kimberly Roden died at Spectrum Butterworth Hospital. Both were wearing helmets.

Wayland Twp., MI: Woman dead after car hits motorcycle | WOOD TV8

A man is behind bars after authorities say he hit two people on a motorcycle with his car and then took off. It happened late Friday night on 129th Avenue in Allegan County’s Wayland Township.

According to authorities with the Michigan State Police, a 57 year old man from Martin was driving on the road when he hit a man and a woman on the motorcycle.

As a result of the accident, the man and woman were seriously hurt. Authorities tell 24 Hour News 8 that the woman on the motorcycle died while being transported to the hospital.

Suspect and victim’s identities have not yet been released.
