A 41-year-old woman who Kirkland Police say was at fault in a fatal head-on crash on Juanita Drive Tuesday night has been booked into the King County Jail on suspicion of vehicular homicide.
Kelly Hudson, whose hometown has not yet been released, showed signs of intoxication at the scene, Kirkland Police say. Furthermore, they say a police dispatcher was on the phone with a person reporting a “possible drunk driver” on Juanita Drive at the very moment of the crash.
The four passengers were trapped inside the car. One of them, a woman, was pronounced dead at the scene when Kirkland Firefighters were able to cut them out of the vehicle.
Bothell resident Tom Kamm told the Reporter that his father Arthur Kamm of Bellevue was the driver of the sedan and it was his 79-year-old aunt, Kirkland resident Joyce Parsons who died in the crash.
The three survivors were taken to hospitals, one to EvergreenHealth Medical Center in Kirkland and the other to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Kirkland Police spokesman Sgt. Rob Saloum said officers were investigating the female driver of the car that crossed the centerline for possibly driving under the influence.
“We had received calls on this vehicle, so it looks like a possible DUI,” he said.
