One man was airlifted to the hospital after an alleged drunk driver ran a stop sign and crashed into his car.

Traci L. Briskin, 38, of Clifton Park Center Road in Clifton Park was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after the accident.

Sheriff’s Deputies say Briskin failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Route 67 and Jockey Street in Charlton and struck a car being driven by Thomas R. Baker, 49, of Paisley Road in Ballston Spa at about 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The accident remains under investigation, but Baker was airlifted to Albany Medical Center with internal injuries. An updated condition was not immediately available.

Milton, NY: 14 Year Old Girl Killed by Drunk Driver | cbs6albany.com

Police say a 14 year old girl walking on West Milton Road was struck by a Ford Escape Saturday night at around 10:30. Authorities have identified the driver as 21 year old Gavin J. Staulters, upon further investigation they determined that Staulters was intoxicated.

Staulters was uninjured. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and arraigned in the Town of Milton Court. He was remanded to Saratoga County Jail in lieu of bail or bond.

Neighbors and a law enforcement source said the teen was Kari Liedel, a student at Ballston Spa High School.

Friends and classmates expressed condolences through social media throughout the weekend, posting messages on Twitter with the hashtag #ripkari and establishing a memorial page on Facebook.

Ballston Spa, NY: Saratoga Springs woman accused of seventh DWI | Times Union

A 43-year-old Saratoga Springs woman was arrested Saturday night for driving drunk for the seventh time since 1995, police said.

Sally Grace Longton was arrested after she pulled into the Stewart’s shop on Church Avenue, said Officer Bill Kitts, who made the arrest. Longton had crossed lanes and nearly struck an oncoming vehicle just before pulling into the Stewart’s, Kitts said.

Longton tested positive for alcohol on a pre-screening test and failed three field sobriety tests, Kitts said.

While in police custody, Longton spit in the face of Kitts and another officer. She kicked another officer in the groin, Kitts said. Longton, of 99 Gailor Lane was charged with felony driving while intoxicated and three counts of harassment. She was arraigned in Ballston Spa Village Court and sent to Saratoga County jail without bail.

Longton has been to prison five times, four for DWI convictions, according to state records. She was most recently paroled in 2009 for an aggravated DWI conviction out of Schenectady county, records show.

A convicted drunken driver is behind bars and facing 19 new charges — four of them felonies — after allegedly fleeing from multiple accidents while driving drunk with a child in his car, authorities said.

Curtis Lee Martz, 33, of Church Avenue in Ballston Spa was allegedly drunk when he struck a 15-year-old pedestrian and a vehicle in the Cumberland Farms parking lot at Rowland Street and Geyser Road.

Martz, who according to police has a prior DWI conviction within the past 10 years, allegedly fled the scene in his vehicle and crossed the curb onto Rowland Street, where Saratoga County sheriff’s deputies said he “committed numerous additional traffic violations” before crashing into a light pole May 19.

Police allege Martz fled from that accident on foot after witnesses confronted him. Police apprehended him on Geyser Road and charged him with felony driving while intoxicated, felony aggravated DWI, felony DWI with a child in the car and felony driving with a blood-alcohol content exceeding the legal limit.

Police did not disclose Martz’s blood-alcohol level. The aggravated DWI charge indicates it was above .18 percent.
