Ballston Spa, NY: Saratoga Springs woman accused of seventh DWI | Times Union

A 43-year-old Saratoga Springs woman was arrested Saturday night for driving drunk for the seventh time since 1995, police said.

Sally Grace Longton was arrested after she pulled into the Stewart’s shop on Church Avenue, said Officer Bill Kitts, who made the arrest. Longton had crossed lanes and nearly struck an oncoming vehicle just before pulling into the Stewart’s, Kitts said.

Longton tested positive for alcohol on a pre-screening test and failed three field sobriety tests, Kitts said.

While in police custody, Longton spit in the face of Kitts and another officer. She kicked another officer in the groin, Kitts said. Longton, of 99 Gailor Lane was charged with felony driving while intoxicated and three counts of harassment. She was arraigned in Ballston Spa Village Court and sent to Saratoga County jail without bail.

Longton has been to prison five times, four for DWI convictions, according to state records. She was most recently paroled in 2009 for an aggravated DWI conviction out of Schenectady county, records show.

Shawnee Fyke

It was a late night race through the streets of Springfield in Calhoun County. Fortunately, there weren’t many other vehicles on the road that night, avoiding a tragedy.

When police finally stopped Shawnee Fyke’s car with stop spikes, it became obvious why she fled.

She was drunk.

Audio from the police dash cam video of an exchange between Fyke and one of the arresting officers shows how oblivious Fyke was to the police chase.

Officer: “Why are you not stopping for us?”

Fyke: “Who?”

Officer: “You.”

Fyke: “Stopping?”

Officer: “Yes.”

Fyke: “What are you talking about?”

Fyke was arrested with a blood alcohol level of .20, more than twice the legal limit.
