A Piedmont man was charged with felony DUI after a pedestrian was struck and killed in Anderson County, authorities said.

Troopers said the victim was walking east on State 86 at about 8 p.m. Tuesday when a pickup ran off the side of the road, struck the pedestrian and crashed into a fence.

The truck then left the scene, but a witness was able to get the tag number, said Lance Cpl. Bill Rhyne of the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The driver was identified as Jason Yeargin, 33, of Piedmont, who was charged with felony DUI and hit and run involving death, according to the Highway Patrol and jail records.

Rhyne and jail records said Yeargin was also charged with possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance.

Yeargin was booked into the Anderson County Detention Center late Tuesday night.

The pedestrian’s name has not been released.

Berkeley Co., SC: Woman charged with felony DUI after fatal wreck | postandcourier.com

A woman was charged with felony driving under the influence following a fatal wreck Thursday in Berkeley County, troopers said.

Melanie Maguire, 38, was traveling east on Cooper Store Road outside of Moncks Corner when her 2002 Ford pickup ran off the right side of the road, struck a ditch and overturned, Highway Patrol reported.

Maguire was wearing a seat belt and survived the wreck. A male passenger who was partially ejected from the vehicle died.

She was being held at the Berkeley County jail, Lance Cpl. Judd Jones said.

Beaufort Co., SC: Woman charged with DUI in fatal Lowcountry crash | WTOC-TV

A Bluffton woman has been arrested and charged in the Aug. 16 wreck that killed a single father in the Lowcountry.

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office says 62-year-old Denise Crowley-Treier is now being charged with DUI in the case.

Investigators say Crowley-Treier was driving west in the eastbound lane of Hwy 170 when she struck Jonathan Friday’s car head-on. It all happened around 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 16. Friday’s 4-year-old daughter Sophia was in the back seat at the time.

Friday was pronounced dead at the scene and both Sophia and Crowley-Treier were taken to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah with minor injuries.

As of right now, Crowley-Treier has only been charged with DUI. There is no word yet on if she is facing additional charges. She has since bonded out following her arrest.

Lake Hartwell, SC: Boat Capsized; Woman Charged With DUI After 2 Children Die | wltx.com

WSPA in Spartanburg reports that an Easley woman has been charged with felony DUI after a five-month old baby and a nine-year old child died after a boat capsized on Lake Hartwell Sunday.

Dawn Thompson, 53, is charged with two counts of felony DUI.

Robert McCullough with the department of Natural Resources says 12 people were on the boat when it capsized.

McCullough says the boat had been going in and out of the cove throughout Sunday and was returning when it went down.

Officials say the boat was between 100 and 200 feet from shore when it flipped.

The infant was recovered near the end of the boat dock in approximately 20 feet of water around 8:55 p.m.

Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore says the older child was airlifted to AnMed, but was already in cardiac arrest.

Thompson is being held at the Anderson County Detention Center.

A Manning woman has been arrested on DUI charges after authorities say she was involved in a wreck that killed one person and seriously injured another.

Tammy Brown, 45, has been charged with 2 counts of felony DUI 1 with death/1 with serious bodily injury, ABC violation and a seat belt violation.

Troopers say the crash occurred Saturday at approximately 11:55 p.m. on Highway 261.

They say Brown was traveling east on Highway 261 when she struck the rear of a 1994 Dodge Dakota Pickup Truck causing it turn off the right side of the roadway and crash into a tree.

The driver of the Dodge Dakota died and the the passenger was flown to the hospital with serious injuries.

Brown was transported to the hospital and is now being held at the Clarendon County Detention Center.

Troopers say no one involved in the accident was wearing their seat belt.

The collision remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

A woman walking along U.S. Highway 17A was struck and killed early Saturday by a drunk driver who initially fled the scene, authorities said.

Sedaris Mabry, 55, was struck by a pickup truck as she was walking along North Live Oak Drive, also known as Highway 17A, near Berkeley Middle School, Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury said.

The pickup truck, which was towing a boat, was traveling south about 12:45 a.m. when it struck the pedestrian, said Sgt. Bob Beres of the S.C. Highway Patrol. The pickup truck did not stop at the scene but was pulled over nearby later, Beres said.

The driver of the pickup, Michael Ronnie Stephens, 41, of Judith Drive in Summerville, is charged with driving under the influence, having an open container and leaving the scene of an accident involving death, Beres said. He was being held at the Hill-Finklea Detention Center pending a bond hearing.

Stephens, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured, Beres said.

Charleston County sheriff’s deputies have charged a man with felony driving under the influence in connection with a wreck that killed a Johns Island teen Saturday afternoon.

James Bryson Munn, 20, of Blaine Court in Charleston, is also charged with being a minor in possession of beer or alcohol, according to sheriff’s deputies.

He will be booked at the Cannon Detention Center after he’s released from Medical University Hospital, Sheriff’s Maj. Eric Watson said.

Kylie Gillette, 17, died at the scene of the wreck around 12:30 p.m. near the intersection of River and Main roads, authorities said.

An incident report released Monday revealed that Munn was seen speeding past multiple cars in a 2006 Chevy Equinox shortly before the vehicle ran off the right side of the road. The vehicle then over corrected, crossing the center line and striking Gillete’s 2011 Jeep Compass head on, the report said.

Officers who met with Munn at MUSC reported that he had bloodshot, watery eyes and slurred speech, according to the report.

The felony DUI charge was Munn’s first in South Carolina, State Law Enforcement Division Records show.
