A 21-year-old backseat passenger died when a drunken driver crashed on the Williamsburg Bridge early Monday, police sources said.

Janice Brown, of New Haven, Conn., was in the back seat of a silver 2003 Nissan Altima when driver Ayisha Dobson, 23, oversteered a turn near the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway interchange and hit a guardrail on the passenger side about 4 a.m.

Brown was thrown from the car onto the bridge roadway and died at the scene.

Wayland, NY – Teen biker found dead in roadway; Apparent hit-and-run victim; Man charged with DWI – dansvilleonline.com

An 18-year-old Steuben County resident was found dead this morning in Cohocton at a scene “consistent with a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident,” Wayland-based New York State Police reported.

The victim was identified as James T. Mitchell, of 11151 county Route 36, Wayland

Troopers said that at approximately 7:20 a,m., today,  Steuben County 911 dispatched New York State Police to investigate the report of a body laying roadside on county Route 36 in the Town of Cohocton. Responding state troopers located Mitchell, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers said a subsequent investigation lead to the arrest of 26-year-old Kyle A. O’Neal, of 9935 Ward Rd., Wayland, for driving while intoxicated. O’Neal was released to appear in Town of Cohocton Court at a later date.

Further investigation is continuing by the New York State Police and the Steuben County District Attorney Brooks Baker, who also responded.

Investigators said additional charges are pending.

A Madison County teenager is facing DWI and vehicular assault charges after an accident that left an Earlville man dead, according to New York State Police.

Law enforcement officials say that 19-year-old Megan Lee is charged with DWI, criminally negligent homicide and vehicular assault, after being the driver in a fatal accident.

Police say Lee was driving three other individuals in a pick-up truck. The accident took place on North Butler Road in the Town of Smithfield early Thursday morning. They were traveling south when Lee failed to negotiate a curve, went off the roadway and hit a silo.

Police found 25-year-old Corey Stoaddard, of Earlville, dead because of massive head trauma. 21-year-old Spencer Barlett and 21-year-old Dylan McNabb, both of Oneida, were sent to Upstate University Hospital.

Following the accident, Lee, from Bouckville, was located at a residence near the accident scene where she was arrested.

Potsdam, NY: Woman jailed as suspect in hit-and-run DUI crash killing visitor from China | NorthCountryNow

A Potsdam resident was jailed on $10,000 bail Saturday after allegedly killing a woman visiting from China with her vehicle, then fleeing the scene of the accident.

Village police say they were notified at 8:37 p.m.that a pedestrian had been struck on May Road near Haggerty Road. When officers and Potsdam Rescue Squad volunteers arrived, they discovered Fuli Wu, 59, of China, lying in the road unresponsive.

Officers and rescue squad members performed CPR and she was transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said.

Police, along with the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department, state police, Potsdam Volunteer Fire Department and the Potsdam Rescue Squad, secured the scene. Information was obtained which led officers to a residence at Debra Drive and another residence on Missouri Avenue, police said.

The driver of the vehicle,  Laurel L. Randall, 44, Potsdam, and a passenger, Stephen E. Coates, 48, of Potsdam, were located at Debra Drive, police said.

The suspect vehicle was concealed in a garage on Missouri Avenue, police said.

Both Randall and Coates were transported to the Potsdam Police Department where they both provided statements about the accident, police said. Randall was also found to be intoxicated and submitted to a breathalyzer test revealing a blood alcohol content of .21 percent, more than twice the .08 percent legal limit.

Randall was charged with vehicular manslaughter first degree, leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident, tampering with physical evidence, driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated, and conspiracy sixth degree, police said.

Coates was charged with tampering with physical evidence and conspiracy sixth degree.

Both were arraigned before Judge Nicholas Pignone. Randall was sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bail bond. Coates was also sent to the jail in lieu of $3,000 cash or $6,000 bond.

Long Island: Driver arrested for DWI after allegedly striking, killing pedestrian in Lake Ronkonkoma | 7online.com

A man has been arrested on drunk driving charges after an accident that killed a pedestrian on Long Island early Sunday morning.

It happened at 2:30 a.m. in Lake Ronkonkoma.

Police say Thomas Vaughan of Lake Grove was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer westbound on Express Drive North, near Carroll Avenue, when his vehicle struck a male pedestrian who was in the lane of traffic.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has been identified as Gary Kroll of Lake Ronkonkoma.

The 59-year old Vaughan is charged with Driving While Intoxicated and will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip.

East Greenbush, NY: Son of Rensselaer Police Chief charged in fatal DWI crash – saratogian.com

Police are investigating a one vehicle accident that happened around 5 a.m. Wednesday morning that left one dead and injured another. The driver of the car, Mark R. Fusco, who is the son of Rensselaer Police Chief Rick Fusco, is now facing multiple charges.

The accident occurred on Third Avenue Extension at the Rensselaer City Line near the intersection of Grove Street. Upon arrival, police found a wrecked 2012 Volkswagon from which a male passenger, who was pronounced dead at the scene, had been ejected. The identity of the passenger is pending notification of next of kin. A Cause of Death Investigation is underway by the Rensselaer County Medical Examiner, Michael Sikirica, MD.

Fusco, 22, was removed from the scene by ambulance and taken to Albany Medical Center. He was arrested at the hospital where he has been admitted with multiple injuries. He was charged with several vehicle and traffic law violations: Driving while intoxicated; speed not reasonable or prudent; and failure to stay in designated lane.

He was released from police custody with a summons to appear in in East Greenbush Town Court April 4, 2013, 6:30 p.m.

Nassau County, NY: 24-year-old Valley Stream man charged in fatal DWI crash | liherald.com

A Valley Stream man faces manslaughter charges after police say he drove drunk, ran a red light and crashed his car, killing a Franklin Square man.

Nassau County Police arrested 24-year-old Brian P. Daly of Comber Street for his involvement in the accident at the Franklin Square-North Valley Stream border on Feb. 27. Police say that Daly was driving his 2008 Lincoln southbound on Franklin Avenue at a high rate at 9:15 p.m. when he went through a red light at Corona Avenue and struck a 2003 Ford traveling east on Corona. Then Daly’s vehicle crashed into a 2010 Subaru stopped at the light before coming to a rest.

The driver of the Ford, 46-year-old Christopher DeCrescito, of Ferngate Drive, was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly before 10 p.m. The driver of the Subaru was not hurt.

Daly was taken to a nearby hospital for injuries to his right hip and right arm. All vehicles were impounded for safety inspections.

After his arrest, Daly was charged with second-degree manslaughter, second-degree vehicular manslaughter, reckless driving and driving while intoxicated. Daly has not yet been arraigned.

Police say a man has been arrested on drunken driving charges in connection with the death of a 76-year-old pedestrian who was struck by an SUV while crossing a street in Queens.

Police say John Eberling of Queens, was on 80 Street and Jamaica Avenue just before 4:30 p.m. Wednesday when he was struck by a Nissan Pathfinder. Eberling was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the driver, identified as 47-year-old Viveshdyal Thakoordyal, of Queens, was arrested on charges of vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated. It wasn’t clear if he had a lawyer.

A Harpursville man is charged with vehicular homicide following an alleged drunk driving crash over the weekend.

22 year-old Ryan Lewis is also charged with DWI. New York State Police say Lewis lost control of his Subaru Impreza while driving along Afton Lake Road in Afton at about 2:20 in the morning Sunday. His car left the road and struck a tree killing the front seat passenger, 24 year-old Joelyn Sines of Harpursville. Lewis and 2 other passengers were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A 26-year-old died in a crash on the Northern State Parkway in Dix Hills early Monday morning and the driver of the vehicle is under arrest for driving while intoxicated, State Police said.

Police say Yunior Josue Bonilla, 25, of Brentwood, lost control of a 2002 Mercedes CLK that was travelling at a high rate of speed on the parkway.

An investigation revaled that Bonilla and three other passengers were headed back to Brentwood from a nighclub in Westbury when the accident occurred, police said.

The front seat passenger, identified as Gabriel Herrera-Mina, 26, of Brentwood, who was not wearing his seat belt, was critically injured and transported to Huntington Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Two other passengers, also from Brentwood, were treated for minor injuries and released.

Witnesses stated that Bonilla had been observed drinking at the night club prior to driving the car, police said.  The eastbound Northern State Parkway was closed to traffic for more than six hours while the crash was being investigated Monday morning, police said.

Other charges against Bonilla are pending further investigation, police said.

A young woman is dead and another is in serious condition after their vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic, hit a guard rail, went down an embankment and flipped over on Route 20 early Saturday, State Police said.

The driver of the vehicle, Marian Hubbard, 20, of West Sand Lake, was charged with driving while intoxicated, troopers said.

Hubbard’s 2001 Isuzu was eastbound on Route 20 about 2 a.m. when the incident occurred, troopers said. Alicia Hubbard, 18, who was sitting in the back seat, was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Marian Hubbard and her front- seat passenger, Nicole Hubbard, 19, were also ejected before the vehicle came to a halt.

The three women in the vehicle were related.

Marian and Nicole Hubbard were taken to Albany Medical Center. Marian is listed in serious condition; no information was available on Nicole’s condition. Police said both women are expected to survive. Neither Marian nor Alicia were wearing seat belts, troopers said.

Nicole and Marian Hubbard are residents of West Sand Lake; Alicia Hubbard was a Nassau resident.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing, troopers said.

A 30-year-old Binghamton man is dead after being hit by an alleged drunk driver early Sunday morning, according to the Broome County Sheriff’s Office.

Bradley R. Murray died following surgery at UHS Wilson Medical Center after suffering injuries from a motor vehicle accident, police said. Murray was riding his bicycle on Upper Court Street at approximately 3:10 a.m. Sunday when he was hit and severely injured by Brandon Bowen, 34, of Waverly, police said.

Bowen is charged with felony driving while intoxicated. He was convicted of a previous DWI in the past 10 years, making the current charge a felony.

A preliminary investigation indicates the collision occurred on the shoulder of Upper Court Street after Murray left work at Frito Lay at 3 a.m., police said.

Bowen was arraigned in Town of Kirkwood Court and remanded to the Broome County Correctional Facility.

CRASH3N_2_WEBA drunk driver was arrested after killing one of his passengers after losing control of his SUV and rolling it over on the Long Island Expressway in Queens early Wednesday morning, police sources said.

The driver, Ricardo Rivas, 39, was traveling east on the highway near 99th St. in Corona when he hit the concrete divider and rolled over his Ford Explorer around 4 a.m.

A 19-year-old man is facing charges after a fatal one-car crash in Columbia County. State police say Thomas Griffin of Germantown was driving south on Route 9 in Livingston, 35 miles south of Albany, when he went off the road and hit a utility pole around 1:30 a.m. Monday. The rear-seat passenger, 21-year-old Max Kelly of Germantown, was taken to Albany Medical Center with extensive injuries and later died. Troopers say Griffin was charged with driving while intoxicated and vehicular assault, but may face further charges. The Columbia County district attorney’s office is investigating. It wasn’t initially known if Griffin has a lawyer.

A pregnant woman was killed and three people injured after a suspected drunk driver lost control of her six-passenger car and sent it flying into a pond in Queens early Sunday morning.

The four victims were trapped in the upside-down Ford Focus, which went off the road and into the marsh along Brookville Blvd. in Idewild Park in Meadowmere around 4:30 a.m., police said. But two of the passengers escaped the mangled car on their own and fled the accident in another vehicle, sources said.

The remaining victims were rescued by police and emergency medical technicians from the icy waters. Divers reentered the water in a desperate search for the two other passengers who had already fled.

Two passengers in the crash fled the scene, authorities say.

The four rescued victims were rushed to Jamaica Hospital, where pregnant Dominique Jamison, 25, died.

The other three victims removed from the car suffered non-life threatening injuries, including the driver, Denise Finley, 32, of Arverne, Queens, cops said.

Finley was charged with driving while intoxicated and driving without a license.

Six firefighters suffered minor injuries during the rescue effort and were taken to Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park.
