Frederick, Md. – Homeless Man Dies in Hospital After Being Struck By Alleged Drunk Driver | your4state.com

The Frederick City Police are continuing an investigation after a homeless man was hit by an alleged drunk driver two weekends ago. They say the case is now being sent to a grand jury.

Cpt. Richard Hetherington with the Frederick Police Department says Ricky Shelton, 59, of Frederick, was sitting on a metal loading dock near the rear of the street when a vehicle driven by Anthony Cilluffo, 25, of Frederick, struck the loading dock, severally injuring Shelton.

“We believe the suspect had been drinking. He admitted as much that he had been drinking prior to the crash,” Hetherington says. “He was given the standardized field sobriety test and based on the results of those tests; we believe that he was at a level above the legal limit.”

Shelton was taken to shock trauma, where he later died this past weekend from his injuries.

Harford Co., MD: 98 Rock DJ’s car crash results in another DUI charge | baltimoresun.com

A popular Baltimore radio personality faces DUI charges after a three-car crash in Harford County on Sunday sent five people to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Stephen G. Smith, 48, of the 1600 block Junius Court in Bel Air — known as Stash on radio station 98 Rock — was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, negligent driving, and other traffic offenses, police said.

In an e-mail Tuesday, Smith — who has several other traffic cases pending — declined a request for comment. “I’m going through enough right now,” he said. “I can’t.”

But he later confirmed that he was arrested Sunday, and he addressed a few points that he said were erroneously reported by some media outlets.

Police said Smith was driving a Nissan Quest north on Route 24 at an apparent high rate of speed, when he struck the rear of a Hyundai stopped at the signal near the intersection with Interstate 95. The impact pushed that vehicle into an SUV, also stopped at the light. Smith drove about 300 feet north of the collision scene before stopping his vehicle, police said.

MSP said Nibblett’s vehicle struck the rear of the 2005 Suzuki SUV, being driven by Iannello.

Upon making contact with Nibblett, MSP said troopers observed he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. According to MSP, Nibblett subsequently failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest.

MSP said Nibblett’s driver’s license was suspended for the multiple DUI offenses. Police also said Nibblett was required to have an ignition interlock device on his vehicle, which was not present on the Explorer he was operating.
