Washington, D.C.: Suspected drunk driver and victim seriously burned when trapped after crash | washingtonpost.com

Police say the driver and passenger of the car that was struck sustained third-degree burns and were hospitalized Sunday in critical condition. A total of six people were injured as a result of the crash, including two police officers.

The crash occurred around 4:15 a.m. Sunday in the Petworth neighborhood of Northwest Washington. Police say two officers suffered minor burns while freeing the occupants of the car that was struck.

The two occupants of the striking vehicle also suffered minor injuries. Police say the driver, a 38-year-old man, has been charged with driving under the influence. Additional charges are pending.

Arlington, VA: Brandon Meriweather arrested on DWI charge

According to ARLnow.com, Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather was arrested early Thursday morning in Arlington, Va., and charged with suspicion of DWI.

Arlington County police said Meriweather was stopped on I-66 at 2:54 a.m., and after smelling alcohol on Meriweather’s breath, gave him a field sobriety test. Which Meriweather allegedly failed. Meriweather then refused a breathalyzer test and was taken to jail.

Police say Meriweather told them he was driving home from a Washington D.C. club, but he couldn’t remember the name of it.
