A Shreveport man has been arrested in connection with the fatal hit and run of another man in north Shreveport on Friday night.
Shreveport police say it happened just after 10 p.m. on February 8. Officers were called to the scene in the 1900 block of Legardy St., where they were told a man had been hit by a red 4-door sedan that left the scene.
37-year-old Clyde Young of Shreveport died from injuries believed to have been sustained after being struck by the sedan.
Officers learned Young was apparently involved in some sort of verbal dispute which turned physical, during which time he was somehow rendered unconscious and then run over by the fleeing vehicle.
A short time later, authorities located the suspect vehicle, a 2007 Chevrolet Impala, and it’s driver, 41-year-old Lornel Gipson at a home in the 1600 block of Princess Elaine Street. Further investigation revealed Gipson was the alleged driver of the vehicle that is believed to have struck Young.
Gipson was arrested and booked into the Shreveport City Jail on charges of DWI, fourth offense. Police say the investigation is still underway, with the possibility of additional felony charges.
