It was Halloween night. Troopers say 53-year-old Ira Blackstock crossed the centerline on Highway 20 in his Mustang and slammed into a car containing twins Janeah and Janesah Goheen. Investigators say Blackstock showed signs of impairment.
An Alcoholics Anonymous brochure and a Bible were in the backseat of his car. He remains in jail, charged with vehicular homicide and assault.
The entire Oak Harbor community is grieving as Janesah survived for 11 days after the wreck before succumbing to her injuries.
The Goheen family has suffered before. The twins’ older sister was killed in a car crash about five years ago.
