A 23-year-old Portage County woman is in custody after a crash today in the town of Lanark that left one man dead.

Hanna Schacht was arrested at the scene after the vehicle she was driving hit another vehicle driven by Richard Wetzel, 31, of Lanark, according to the Sheriff’s Office. His father, Daniel Wetzel 51, of Lanark was killed as he rode as a passenger.

Oswego Ill. – Man dies in crash; woman charged with DUI |

A Yorkville man was killed when the car he was a passenger in crashed early Sunday morning in Oswego, police said.

Jason B. Callahan, 38, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Kendall County Coroner’s Office, authorities said.

The driver, Kristen M. Leonard, 31, of West Chicago was traveling in the 5000 block of Minkler Road about 12:02 a.m. when her vehicle struck a guardrail, police officials said.

Leonard was transported by ambulance to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora for medical treatment.

Capt. Jeff Burgner, media relations officer for the Oswego Police Department, said Leonard has been charged with aggravated driving under the influence-death, aggravated DUI-great bodily harm, improper lane use and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Smyrna, Georgia – Woman hit, killed by DUI suspect |

A Smyrna woman was struck and killed Saturday night by man who has been charged with driving under the influence, police said. Amaliss Baskin Martin, 51, was hit around 10:30 p.m. in the 2100 block of Windy Hill Road.

Investigators said Martin was walking across Windy Hill Road on her way to The Retreat at Windy Hill when she was struck by a 2009 Nissan Rouge driven by Mark Edward Hume, also of Smyrna.

Channelview, Texas – Teen killed in possible DWI crash |

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday was investigating a single-vehicle crash that killed a young man in east Harris County.

It happened in the 15200 block of Woodforest Boulevard near Canna in Channelview.

HCSO deputies said Wilfredo Chavez Lopez was driving east on Woodforest at a high rate of speed when he left the roadway, hit a curb and crashed into a tree in the front yard of a home.

Neither Lopez nor his passenger was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, deputies said. Lopez was ejected upon impact. He was taken to an area hospital via ambulance in critical condition.

Passenger Carlos Senea was found dead in the front seat when deputies arrived at the scene. Officials at the scene told us he was 18 or 19 years old.

Deputies believe alcohol is a factor in the crash.

Nassau Co., NY – Woman charged in fatal DWI crash |

A Rockville Centre woman was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated Sunday morning after her vehicle slammed into a parked tractor trailer, killing her passenger, Nassau County police said.

Asya Ulmer, 21, was driving a 2000 BMW north on North Centre Avenue in Rockville Centre at 5:50 a.m. when she hit a tractor trailer parked near Meehan Lane, police said.

The impact killed her passenger, Jennifer Alexis, 21, of Bayside, police said.
