A 30-year-old Port Huron Township woman charged in the fatal crash that killed two young Avoca men was out on bond on a separate operating while intoxicated charge at the time of the crash.
And she was charged in a third case Friday.
Lisa Lynn Bergman was arraigned Friday afternoon on two counts of operating while intoxicated causing death and two counts of operating on a suspended license causing death in connection with the fatal July 20 crash. Bond was set at $500,000, cash or surety.
Police have said Bergman was eastbound on Lapeer Road, east of Allen Road shortly before 2 a.m. when her truck crossed the center line and hit a car occupied by 19-year-old Russell Ward and 20-year-old Koby Raymo.
Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.
Bergman remained quiet during the arraignment, only answering questions and wiping her face as the magistrate read the charges.
Bergman also was arraigned on a separate case Friday on charges of possession of a controlled substance and operating under the influence stemming from a May 5, 2012, incident. Bond was set at $20,000 in that case.
Both preliminary examinations are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Aug. 6 in front of Judge John Monaghan.
At the time of the crash, Bergman was out of jail on bond and awaiting trial on a March 17, 2012, incident.
In that case, she faces a trial Aug. 1 on charges of possession of a controlled substance, operating under the influence, failing to stop at the scene of a property-damage accident and with being a habitual offender.
