A Hope Mills man died early this morning after he was struck by a drunken driver while helping push a disabled vehicle near a Skibo Road intersection.

Fayetteville police said Lavardis Whitman, 22, of the 5500 block of Jackson Street, and Terekus Rogers, 30, were trying to push a disabled 1994 Chevrolet Cavalier from Swain Street onto Bragg Boulevard just after midnight this morning.

While pushing the vehicle, Whitman and the Cavalier were struck by a car being driven by Jeremy Banaka, 23, of the 100 block of Waterway Drive in Spring Lake.
