Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Eric Wright was arrested in Los Angeles on Monday for investigation of driving under the influence after police said he was involved in a crash near Staples Center.

The incident occurred about 12:20 a.m. PDT several blocks away from the Staples Center when the Mercedes SLS that Wright was driving rear-ended a pickup truck, said police officer Karen Rayner. The driver of the truck had unspecified injuries.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the 26-year-old Wright told officers he had been drinking earlier in the night at a friend’s house and refused to take a Breathalyzer test and field sobriety test.

Wright, who wasn’t injured, refused to take sobriety tests, authorities said. He was booked for investigation of felony DUI and bail was set at $100,000. It was not immediately known if he had posted bail.

Grayson GA: DUI suspected in Gwinnett crash that killed teen | sfgate.com

Gwinnett County teenager was killed Sunday night when she pulled out in front of another vehicle in a neighborhood near Grayson, police said.

Brittany Sailors, 16, was driving a 2000 Mitsubishi Diamante when she attempted to make a left turn from Graystone Parkway onto Lakeview Road around 9:40 p.m. Sunday, according to a Gwinnett County police press release.

The Mitsubishi was struck by a 1998 Pontiac Bonneville that was westbound on Lakeview Road.

Neither Sailors nor her passenger, 16-year-old Lacey Gowens, was wearing a seat belt, according to police.

Sailors died at the scene, and Gowens was hospitalized with injuries that police said were not life-threatening.

Police later charged the driver of the Pontiac, Mutajah Paasewe, 23, of Grayson, with driving under the influence.

A Meade County teenager died Saturday night in a traffic accident, and the driver of the vehicle she was riding in has been charged with driving under the influence, according to Kentucky State Police.

Courtney B. Horsley, 16, of Paynesville, died as authorities were trying to get her to a nearby fire station to be flown by helicopter to Louisville, state police said.

Horsley was riding in the middle of the front seats of a 2007 Dodge pickup truck driven by Adam J. Hall, 21, of Webster, state police said. Hall suffered minor injuries, as did the other passenger, William A. Hall, 24, also of Webster.

An Ogdensburg City Council member has landed himself in hot water with police, for allegedly driving while intoxicated.

43-year-old Dan Skamperle was arrested Friday night on Route 10 in Lisbon.

State Police say he was driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.13 and swerving across road markings when he was stopped.

Skamperle was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Lisbon Town Court on a later date.

Sonoma Co., CA: DUI suspected in cyclist hit-and-run | PressDemocrat.com

The man arrested in the crash that seriously injured professional cyclist Michael Torckler is suspected of driving intoxicated at the time of the accident, the CHP said Sunday.

Arthur Ben Yu of Rohnert Park was booked Saturday into Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, hit-and-run driving, stealing a vehicle and driving on a suspended license.

Yu, 36, was identified by a passenger who had been riding with him Friday when the crash occurred on Pine Flat Road northeast of Healdsburg, CHP Officer Tom Barto said.

The driver fled the scene in the car, but the passenger got out and stayed with Torckler, along with a city of Santa Rosa worker who came upon the injured cyclist, Barto said.

Edinburg, TX: Woman killed in drunk driving wreck; driver with DUI history in custody | ValleyCentral.com

Edinburg Police are investigating a fatal drunk driving accident from early Saturday morning.

Lt. Oscar Treviño said the wreck happened at about 3:30 a.m. on the intersection of Jackson Road and Schunior Avenue.

According to police reports, Belinda April Cruz, 24, from Edinburg was intoxicated and driving a red Chevy Cobalt.

Cruz allegedly rammed her car into a blue EOS Volkswagen that had stopped at a red light at the intersection.

Emergency crews transported the drivers of both cars to the hospital.

A passenger in the Volkswagen, Michelle Lynette Guerrero, 31, was killed in the crash.  Her husband, Jesse Guerrero, 27, was seriously injured.

Meanwhile, police say Cruz sustained only minor injuries.

She continues hospitalized as well, but will be taken into custody as soon as she is released.
