A 31-year-old Babylon man has been charged with driving while intoxicated in connection with a crash that left a teenage girl dead.
Michael Grasing was driving westbound on Montauk Highway when he rear-ended the victim’s car, causing it to overturn and strike a utility pole, Suffolk County police said.
Brittney Walsh, 18, died at the scene. She had just graduated high school the previous day.
Grasing was treated for minor injuries at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip.
He has been arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.
Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota says Michael Grasing’s blood show the 31-year-old Babylon resident had a blood-alcohol level of .30 approximately ninety minutes after the fatal crash Sunday night on Montauk Highway that killed 18-year-old Brittany Walsh of Lindenhurst.
The legal limit is .08.
Both vehicles have been impounded for safety checks, police said.
The investigation is ongoing.
