Colin Morrisey
A 45-year-old Germantown man is facing his sixth drunken driving charge after he was caught speeding through Waukesha Sunday.
Colin M. Morrisey was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court on Monday with one count of sixth offense operating while intoxicated. If convicted, he faces up to six years in prison and $10,000 in fines.
According to the criminal complaint:
At 1:03 a.m. Sunday, a Waukesha police officer on patrol spotted a Morrisey turn from West Broadway onto Lincoln Avenue, then heard the car accelerate excessively. The officer went to catch up with the car, which then ran a red light and turned onto southbound Oakland Avenue.
The officer then turned on his emergency lights to pull the car over, but Morrisey just stopped in the middle of the roadway without turning off to the side. Morrisey smelled of alcohol then failed field sobriety tests, saying at one point “I could not even do that sober.”
He had a blood alcohol level of 0.24 percent, which is three times the legal limit to drive in Wisconsin.
Morrisey was previously convicted of OWI in 1995, 1996, 1999, 2002 and 2007. He’s currently being held in Waukesha County Jail on $25,000 bond.
