Milton, NY: Alleged drunk driver w/prior DUI charged again. Had child in the car, hit teen pedestrian, multiple other cars, etc., etc. – saratogian.com

A convicted drunken driver is behind bars and facing 19 new charges — four of them felonies — after allegedly fleeing from multiple accidents while driving drunk with a child in his car, authorities said.

Curtis Lee Martz, 33, of Church Avenue in Ballston Spa was allegedly drunk when he struck a 15-year-old pedestrian and a vehicle in the Cumberland Farms parking lot at Rowland Street and Geyser Road.

Martz, who according to police has a prior DWI conviction within the past 10 years, allegedly fled the scene in his vehicle and crossed the curb onto Rowland Street, where Saratoga County sheriff’s deputies said he “committed numerous additional traffic violations” before crashing into a light pole May 19.

Police allege Martz fled from that accident on foot after witnesses confronted him. Police apprehended him on Geyser Road and charged him with felony driving while intoxicated, felony aggravated DWI, felony DWI with a child in the car and felony driving with a blood-alcohol content exceeding the legal limit.

Police did not disclose Martz’s blood-alcohol level. The aggravated DWI charge indicates it was above .18 percent.
