An infant was killed and two teenagers were left with life-threatening injuries Saturday in what Kentucky State Police called an alcohol-related crash in Carroll County.
A KSP spokesperson said the 17-year-old driver failed to negotiate a curve, ran off the road and slammed into a tree.
The accident happened at 9:43 a.m. on 11st Street near the rear entrance to General Butler State Park.
Police said the driver was wearing a seatbelt was was uninjured.
Two passengers, Jaquolin Valoria Villalva Rocha, 18, of Warsaw, and Leonardo Lopez Sanchez, 22, of Louisville, were flown by helicopter to University of Louisville Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police said neither of them was wearing a seatbelt and Rocha’s infant was not in a child restraint. The child was taken to Carroll County Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead.
