An Ames man was charged with felony operating while intoxicated after allegedly striking another vehicle in broad daylight on Sunday and then driving away.
James Ryan, 33, Aplin Road, was charged with operating while intoxicated, third offense, a class D felony, simple assault, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, driving while barred, driving under suspension, and driving revoked. Ryan denied the fact that he was driving at all but a man called police Sunday evening saying that Ryan rear-ended his vehicle on Chamberlain Street and then got out and assaulted him and drove away.
